The Applied Learning Centre (ALC) was established  in 1982 and has a built a strong  reputation in the Greater Montreal professional health services community in both the English and French sectors.

Practitioners in our group are comprised of several psychologists, social workers, remedial therapists, and other related professionals, each with different areas of expertise. The work done in our clinic covers a wide range of treatment areas and includes problems identified with children, youth, adults and families. We have expertise in areas such as school difficulties, anxiety, depression, marital or family discord, sports psychology, correctional services and young offenders. Our referral sources in the community include local hospital outpatient departments, pediatricians, schools, school boards and other practitioners. Furthermore, many of our referrals come from our solid base of former satisfied clients that we have worked with over the years of our practice.

The professionals at the ALC operate from a science-practitioner approach to treatment using evidence-based assessments and therapies. Our group includes psychologists who have specific training in the service of children, adolescents and adults who are learning disabled or who suffer from ADD, ADHD, PDD or other difficulties which may inhibit their overall progress. We also offer unique services in Sports Psychology and mental fitness for professional and elite amateur athletes and teams that are interested in techniques to improve their overall performance in their sport.

At the ALC we are equipped to diagnose and administer comprehensive psycho-educational assessments across the lifespan, and we provide specialized programs in remediation, counseling or a combination of both to help increase the student’s chances of success. Invariably, most individuals who experience difficulties in one domain, such as school, home or interpersonal relationships, must also resolve conflicts in other areas. Thus, our approach is a multidimensional one in order to meet all needs.
