Peter Gantous has been working with children, families, adults and couples for over 20 years as a Clinical Psychologist in the Montreal area.
His services include psychological assessment and therapy to help with difficulties such as ADHD, learning disabilities, attachment issues, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and family dynamics, which can keep a person from feeling happy, secure and generally at ease in their lives.
He works together with clients to build a trusting environment where they can understand the root of a problem, feel hope, and move toward solutions. He uses various approaches in therapy, including Cognitive-Behavioural, Solution-Focused and Systemic therapy.
He has had the pleasure of working with clients in private practice as well as in clinical settings through the Montreal Children’s Hospital Hyperactivity Disorder Research-Treatment Program, The Douglas Hospital Child and Adolescent Unit, Step-by Step Child and Family Center in Kahnawake, Jewish Family Services in Montreal and The Child’s Place in Windsor, Ontario.
His academic experience includes teaching Psychology in various Native communities through McGill University’s Department of First Nations and Inuit Education, as well as currently teaching at Vanier College. He consults the larger community by holding workshops on issues related to child development, parenting and specific difficulties, such as Learned Optimism and The Roots of Self-Esteem, Attention-Deficit Disorder – its Causes and Treatments, Anxiety and Depression in Childhood and Stress Management at home and in the workplace. He also appears periodically as a consulting Psychologist on CJAD’s “On-Call”.
